In a move to reposition the agency for more efficiency, the Managing Director of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Abubakar Dantsoho, has announced the appointments and redeployments of general managers, with the agency’s experienced public relations expert, Ikechukwu Onyemekara, named the General Manager, Corporate & Strategic Communications Division.
In a statement on the agency’s official X account titled, “Rejig as NPA Appoints New General Manager,” Dantsoho also redeployed the agency’s acting spokesperson, Mrs. Sarah Ballah, to head another division, alongside others.
Explaining the basis for the appointments and redeployments, the statement said it was “geared towards repositioning Nigeria’s foremost trade facilitation platform for greater efficiency and renewed contribution to the national economy,” adding that the new managers are to support the Dantsoho-led management in actualising its performance deliverables.
According to Dantsoho, who came to the job with decades of sector-specific experience, having commenced his career at the NPA as a Youth Corp member, “these appointments represent our deliberate strategy to deploy the wealth of experience of the appointees to national advantage.”
The appointments, which take immediate effect, reorganised some divisions to align with the directive of the Federal Ministry of Marine & Blue Economy. Dr. (Mrs.) Chinwe Nwokolo was retained as Pharmacist, Hadiza Sani is General Manager Medical, Abuja Liaison, while Babatunde Gbotolorun is General Manager ICT Division.
The new appointees to head various divisions include Capt. Jerome Angyunwe, Mr. Richard Unde, Mr. Mukhtar Isa, Mr. Anthony Edosomswan, Mr. Dapo Adekunle, Mr. Victor Gofwan, Mr. Rabiu Dambatta, Mrs. Priscilla Maduka, Mrs. Sarah Ballah, and Mrs. Zainab Dantiye.
Others are Mr. Anas Suleiman, Mr. Adeayo Oni, Mr. Abdulkadir Gusau Mr. RAB Salau, Mr. Nurrudeen Abdulkadir, Mr. Seyi Iyawe, Mr. Ethel Uduehi, Mr. Nansel Zhimwan, Mr. Ahmad Wanka, Mr. Fatai Oladapo, Mr. Ibrahim Lukman, Mr. Abdul Isah, and Mr. Charles Okaga.
