Workers’ Day: Ecobank Nigeria hosts conference on survival tips today

Towards a more gainful use of financial resources and instruments, Ecobank Nigeria Limited will be hosting a digital conference today to equip customers and the general public with tips that will enable them remain financially stable in spite of the nation’s rising inflation.

The webinar, which is part of activities marking this year’s Workers’ Day, is titled, “Inflation and Your Money – Our Role As Your Bank.”

Ecobank’s Head, Consumer Banking, Korede Demola-Adeniyi, disclosed that the programme is aimed at educating the public on how to manage the limited resources at their disposal, as well as tips on savings, borrowings and investments, among others.

She noted that Nigeria’s early exit from the recession in 2020 Q4 notwithstanding, the effects of Covid-19, now worsened by the rising inflation, have continued to erode the revenues of many corporate entities, businesses and individuals.

According to Demola-Adeniyi, “inflation rate has continued an upward trend to settle at about 18.1 per cent in March, with prices of goods rising significantly in the last six months. This, in turn, has significantly reduced the disposable income and cash available to consumers.

“Consequently, as a bank set up to contribute to economic development, we thought it important to facilitate a discussion during this period of Worker’s Day to provide some guidance to our customers and the general public on how they can manage their cash and resources through the rising inflation.”

She listed speakers at the webinar, which will be hosted on the Microsof Team’s platform, to include the Head, Agusto Consulting Ltd, Jimi Ogbobine, Managing Director, EDC Nigeria Limited, Fela Popoola, and Head, Consumer Products, Ecobank Nigeria, Daberechi Effiong, among others.

Sensitising the public on the immense benefits of participating in the webinar, Demola-Adeniyi explained that it would afford customers and every participant “financial education and financial planning tips.

“Participants will be informed about relevant investment opportunities to create wealth and, most importantly, how the bank can be useful to them at this time. It is important to make an informed decision regarding how to manage your money.”
