The Tin Can Island Port Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has set a new revenue milestone with the ₦159 billion collected in August 2025 being the command’s highest monthly revenue generation so far.
This came as the command was also in high spirits following the promotion of many of its officers, who were decorated with their new ranks on Wednesday. They included Deputy Compt. Olisa Alumona and the Command Public Relations Officer, Oscar Ivara.
Speaking at the colourful ceremony, Compt. Frank Onyeka attributed the revenue breakthrough to the successful deployment of the indigenous B’Odogwu trade platform, which he said has significantly improved trade facilitation and enhanced revenue performance.
He commended every officer and men of the command, as well as stakeholders, for the achievement, while commending the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adeniyi, for recognising the contributions of the officers.
Congratulating all those promoted, Compt. Onyeka disclosed that a total of 187 officers from the command were promoted in the current exercise, representing “about 87 per cent of all those who took the examination from the command.”
Onyeka was particularly elated that most of his officers who took the promotion examination were promoted, stating that it was encouraging. He further encouraged those yet to be promoted to remain dedicated, assuring that “their turn will come.”
He further reaffirmed the command’s commitment to trade facilitation, revenue protection and support for port stakeholders.
On hand to assist Compt. Onyeka with the new rank decorations were Compt. Joseph Anani of Ports Terminal Multi-Services Limited (PTML) Command, Compt. Istifanus Musa and family members of some of the newly promoted officers.
