The Joint Tax Board has called for collaboration with the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), including on systems integration, in order to enhance tax management.
Making the call during their visit to the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adeniyi, in Abuja Tuesday, Secretary of the Joint Tax Board, Olusegun Adesokan, also urged the NCS to finalise the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between both establishments.
Apart from the need for robust partnership and systems integration, the meeting also discussed a proposed technical training to strengthen the collaboration.
On his part, Adeniyi emphasised the importance of engaging stakeholders in achieving effective tax management, stating that no entity can handle such matters in isolation.
He promised to liaise with the NCS Human Resources Department on the proposed technical training session, just as he directed the legal teams to hasten the processes towards actualising the MOU.
Meanwhile, the Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs, ICT/Modernisation, Kikelomo Adeola, briefed the meeting on the advancement with the integration with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), which aims to register only vehicles that have paid the correct duties, thereby contributing to efficient tax management.
