Sheraton Abuja’s Road to Awareness campaign holds Saturday
Sheraton Hotels and Towers, Abuja, will on Saturday, at its Coconut Garden, play host to audience from every strata of the society at the 2017 Road to Awareness programme. The programme that debuted  about a decade ago with some senior associates of Starwood Hotels & Resorts, engaging on a three-day cycling challenge in the French Alps in aid of UNICEF. Since inception, the programme, which was designed to assist underprivileged children living in the communities where the hotels operate, has generated close to $7 million. “This year, the campaign, which is now under the Marriott International umbrella, celebrated its 10th anniversary with a 600-kilometre cycle challenge through Jordan between October 12 and 14,” the hotel stated. According to the General Manager, Sheraton Abuja Hotel, Nouman Irshad, the Abuja team would be hosting a fitness-fun sports Saturday beginning from 11am. “We will feature various sporting activities and competitions for adults and children for a small fee. The funds raised through this registration will be handed over to UNICEF for the cause,” the manager said. “Exciting games and activities to look out for include dance aerobics, relay races, tug-of-war, egg toss and three-legged man race. There will also be sack race as well as obstacle course.” Meanwhile, winners in the various activities will go home with fantastic prizes, the hotel assured.
