Okadigbo, Iheanacho, Usoro, others for Maritime & Offshore Award

Chairman of the Board of Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC), Sen. Margery Okadigbo, and Chairman, Integrated Oil and Gas Limited, Capt. Emmanuel Iheanacho, are in the shortlist of frontline industry practitioners for the Maritime and Offshore Award (The OMIS) 2022.

Also in the shortlist for the September 24 event in Lagos are the pioneer Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Mrs. Mfon Usoro, Chairman of Starzs Investments Company Limited, Mr. Greg Ogbeifun, and Senior Partner of OAL, Dr. Olisa Agbakoba (SAN).

In a statement, The OMIS Chief Executive Officer, Femi Da-Silva, disclosed that captains of industry and frontline practitioners were nominated by leading voices in the maritime sector because of their selfless leadership roles and contributions to the growth of the sector.

Other individuals in various award categories include the Managing Director, LADOL, Dr. Amy Jadesimi, Commercial Manager, APM Terminals, Temilade Ogunniyi, Chief Executive Officer of Multimix Group, Dr. Obiora Madu, and President, Nigerian Maritime Law Association, Mrs. Funke Agbor (SAN).

There are equally the CEO, CHARKIN Maritime and Offshore Safety Centre, Dr. Charles Wami, Founder, Women in Logistics and Transport, Aisha Ali-Ibrahim, CEO, Ocean Deep Services, Mrs. Macfoy Rollens, and Executive Director, Sifax Group, Wunmi Eniola-Jegede, among others.

According to Da-Silva, Samsung Heavy Industries, Bureau Veritas, CMA CGM Shipping, Niger Dock and SIFAX are among firms nominated in the corporate organisations’ category of the award.

He disclosed that award day is slated to coincide with the International Maritime Organisation’s (IMO) World Maritime Day, which is marked the same month, and will feature exciting side attractions, including exhibition and panel discussion along the theme of this year’s World Maritime Day.

Meanwhile, Chairman of The OMIS and Nigerian Ports Consultative Council, Mr. Kunle Folarin, has stated that “this highly celebrated event will not only showcase the maritime sector but also achievers and highlight the sector’s strategic position in the league of the nation’s political economy.”
