The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) says it has successfully installed the Electronic Barrier Systems at all terminals in the Lagos Port Complex (LPC) as part of efforts to enhance operational efficiency and improve traffic management.
The initiative follows extensive consultations with key stakeholders towards addressing the persistent unauthorised truck diversions, which have adversely impacted terminal efficiency, traffic flow and overall port productivity.
NPA Managing Director, Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, disclosed that the electronic barriers have been fully integrated with the Eto Electronic Call-Up System, managed by the Trucks Transit Parks Ltd (TTP), to ensure seamless coordination and transparency in truck movements.
He explained that this integration guarantees that only trucks with valid Eto-issued call-up tickets have access to terminal facilities, thereby eliminating unauthorised entries and enhancing gate control operations.
To this end, he stated that all terminals within the LPC started full live operations using the Integrated Electronic Barrier System since September 1, 2025, as the NPA continues efforts to enhance port infrastructure automation and modernisation.
Dantsoho further commended all stakeholders for their cooperation throughout the processes. He assured of NPA’s continued deployment of innovative solutions to improve service delivery and ensure secure and business-friendly port environment towards achieving a sustainable African maritime logistics and port services hub.
