The Head of Public Relations Department and spokesman of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Edward Osagie, has been crowned the 2024 most outstanding spokesperson in the Marine and Blue Economy sector.
The deep-voice and benign-mien Osagie picked the honour at the 2025 National Spokespersons’ Awards (NSAwards) in Abuja, where 62 finalists made the shortlist across 21 competitive categories.
Three spokespersons from the maritime industry featured in the final ceremony. They were Osagie; the General Manager, Corporate and Strategic Communication Department, Nigerian Ports Authority, Ikechukwu Onyemekara, and the Group Head, Corporate Communications, Sifax Group, Muyiwa Akande.
Osagie was a finalist in three categories – Spokesperson of Year, which was the lead category; Outstanding Spokesperson (crisis management for public sector), and Marine and Blue Economy sector.
Akande also featured as finalist in the Spokesperson of Year and Marine and Blue Economy categories, and Onyemekara in the Marine and Blue Economy sector. However, Osagie beat all the contestants in the Marine and Blue Economy category.
