NIMASA DG gets youths’ credence award, confidence vote

   For his outstanding performance in the maritime sector, the Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Dakuku Peterside, has bagged the Nigerian Youth Parliament’s award of credence vote of confidence. Peterside received the award and certificate of credence at the NIMASA headquarters in Lagos during an advocacy visit by the parliamentarians, led by the Majority Leader, Umar Etudaye, according to a statement by the Head of Corporate Communications, Mr. Isichei Osamgbi. ra Umar disclosed that the body inaugurated the merit honorarium category, “Icon of Youth Development and Nation Building,” to identify with distinguished and reputable personalities, organisations, institutions and public office holders, and to honour and encourage outstanding performance in the various sectors of the economy. According to him, Peterside has been found a trailblazer of the President Muhammadu Buhari “Change” agenda after due scrutiny and observation of his “enthusiasm and zeal towards improving the maritime sector,” by which he has brought about “a drastic reduction in maritime accident and other maritime-related crimes, and increased revenue generation.” “We are very much aware of your resilient, charismatic, pragmatic, distinct principle and ideology, with the collective effort of other well-meaning Nigerians, to achieve the dividend of democracy and good governance with quality service at NIMASA,” Umar said. Responding, Peterside, who was represented by the NIMASA Executive Director, Finance and Administration, Mr. Bashir Jamoh, described the young parliamentarians as a beacon of hope for Nigeria. He expressed delight in their forthrightness and urged them to continue being shining examples to other youths. He assured that NIMASA under his watch would continue to do its best to ensure that Nigerians benefit maximally from the maritime sector, and would support any developmental initiative that reflects the Buhari administration’s “Change agenda.” “Let me assure you that on our part as NIMASA, we will continue to focus on our mandate, because we are determined to make Nigeria a hub of maritime activities in Africa,” Peterside stated. “Also, this award will spur us to do more towards ensuring a more virile and robust maritime sector in line with global best practices.”
