Tomorrow, August 30th the Women’s Wing of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) will host a grand send-forth ceremony for Deaconess Kate Oghagbon, as she bows out after 15 years of dedicated service as the association’s first National Women Leader.
Appointed the National Women Leader in 2010 by then President, Dr. Eugene Nweke, Oghagbon has been instrumental in uniting and nurturing women in the industry, and her leadership has elevated the women’s wing to enviable heights in the industry.
To be honoured alongside Oghagbon, who is fondly called Mama NAGAFF, are distinguished personalities within the association and the broader maritime industry, such as the NAGAFF President, Mr. Tochukwu Ezisi, Mrs. Helen Ezisi and Princess Chi Eze.
The ceremony, billed for the NAGAFF Headquarters at No.2, Maybin Street, Apapa, will also feature the launch of a new bus for the women’s wing.
Oghagbon announced her retirement on June 27, 2024, handing over to her deputy, Princess Uju Ebubedike, who will be in charge till the women’s general elections in January 2025.
In her farewell speech, she emphasised that she “considered it necessary to leave office in order to give opportunity to the younger ones to showcase their ability, and bring in new ideas that would take the women to enviable heights.”
Expected at the event are freight forwarding bigwigs like NAGAFF Founder, Dr. Boniface Aniebonam, who will be the father of the day, Board of Trustees Chairman, Chidiebere Enelama, Deputy National President (Headquarters), Simeon Nwonu, Deputy National President (Seaports), Afam Chukwuma, and Deputy National President (Air Logistics), Dr. Segun Musa.
Others include the National Coordinator of 100% Compliance Team, Ibrahim Tanko, former NAGAFF President, Dr. Eugene Nweke, Chairman of Elders Council, Prince Ignatius Nwachukwu, and Vice President (Seaport), Princess Chi Eze.
