With an excellent guest satisfaction index, gross operating profit and improvement in its total sales, the Lagos Marriott Hotel, Ikeja has been awarded the best hotel in sub-Saharan Africa for the 2022 business year.

This award was conferred on the company by Marriott International at the just concluded 2023 General Managers Conference in Abu Dhabi.

According to the President and Chief Executive Officer, Marriott International, Anthony Capuano, the Lagos Marriott Hotel Ikeja out-performed over 90 Marriott International hotels within the sub-Saharan Africa region in key performance indicators.

These included gross operating profit and guest satisfaction index, and with total sales up by over 45 per cent versus budget, to win the Hotel of the Year 2022.

The hotel management has also achieved a 39 per cent women inclusion in its leadership positions, a feat that no other hotel in the region has achieved.

Welcoming the award, Dr. Taiwo Afolabi, who is the Chairman, Mac-Folly Hospitality, owners of the Lagos Marriott Hotel and subsidiary of SIFAX Group, said the hotel has continued to weather the storm and achieved many firsts in less than two years of operations in spite of the many challenges being faced.

“We are happy to have won this milestone award in less than two years of operation,” a statement from the Group Head, Corporate Communications, SIFAX Group, Muyiwa Akande, quoted Afolabi to say.

“We are high on making a difference in the hospitality space and this is why we decided to partner the Marriott brand as it identifies with our values.

Our team is motivated to continue to deliver best value to all our customers on daily basis and we pledge to continue to be a trailblazer in not just sub-Saharan Africa but also a frontliner in Africa.”

The Lagos Marriott Hotel Ikeja, located in the heart of the GRA, Ikeja sets a new standard as a 5-star conference hotel showcasing inspiring and contemporary décor within the capital of Nigeria’s commercial hub.

It is ideally suited for both business and leisure travellers to Lagos, providing impeccable service worthy of the Marriott brand.
