The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the Federal Government’s attempt to outlaw the use of the old naira notes as of February 10, 2023, has been temporarily banned by the Supreme Court on Wednesday.

In a decision on an exparte appeal submitted by the three northern states of Kaduna, Kogi, and Zamfara, a seven-member panel headed by Justice John Okoro stopped the federal government’s action.
