Maj.-Gen. Mohammed T. Usman has successfully handed over the baton of leadership to the new General Officer Commanding (GOC) 81 Division, Nigerian Army, Maj.-General FU Mijinyawa.
The handover of documents and flag to Mijinyawa took place at the Headquarters, 81 Division, Lagos on Thursday during a brief ceremony attended by commanders of the various units and other officers of the division.
Commissioned into service in 1998, the new GOC was posted from the Army Headquarters Department of Policy and Plans, Abuja.
In a brief parting address during a parade in his honour earlier, Usman had urged the army to remain professional and committed to serving the nation and government with sincerity and loyalty, and to support his successor, Maj.-Gen. Mijinyawa, to have a fruitful and successful tenure.
Usman, who has been redeployed to the Department of Transformation and Innovation, Army Headquarters, Abuja, was Commander of the Presidential Guard Brigade of Nigeria from 2019 to 2023, before his redeployment to 81 Division, Lagos as GOC.
