Guests at the maiden Monthly Art Club (MAC) in Abuja were thrilled beyond expectations as emerging artists surprised them with uncommon show of talents at the new programme launched by the Institut français du Nigeria, in partnership with Mambaah Bistro.
MAC was launched last weekend featuring a music concert by the Kaduna singer and songwriter, Godwin Gaza Josiah, popularly known by his stage name, Godw3in. He broke into the music scene only last year with his first album, Road to Nirvana.
According to the Cultural Programme Officer at Institut français du Nigeria, Mathilde Lepert, Road to Nirvana “is an embodiment of emotions, carried by Godw3in’s deep baritone voice.
“Godw3in came with his band from Kaduna, accompanied by two amazing female singers. They gave a wonderful show that will remain in memory.”
For the founder and Director of Mambaah Bistro, Mrs. Zainab Husseini Akwanga, “showcasing emerging artists from Nigeria has always been a primary goal for both Mambaah and the French Institute.
“We are really happy to partner the institute on this unique programme which will, once a month, help emerging artists to connect, network and show their talent.”
Meanwhile, the maiden MAC event has been described as a huge success, both for the artists and the organisers, with the over 100 people in attendance encouraging the artists to sing new songs during a show that lasted over an hour.
For Godw3in himself, it would remain an unforgettable event, like he said: “I’d never forget the 3rd of February 2023, I got emotional.”
A very promising artist, he is vowed to a long career as a musician, aside his already established career as filmmaker with The Critics Company in Kaduna. His audience is already looking forward to his next show, possibly in Lagos next month.
Towards that, the institute and Mambaah Bistro are already preparing for the next MAC event, which will feature not only music concert but also theatre performances, live podcasting, literature.
