A partnership has been struck between the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) and the management of Dala Inland Dry Port (DIDP) to leverage their capacities, expertise and strengths to unlock and promote the potentials of the facility to the benefit of all.
DIDP, and NAGAFF, which was represented by its Technical Group on Cargo Logistics and Trade Facilitation (TGCLTF), believe that the partnership holds immense promise for the port, Kano State and the broader trading community, and will pave the way for other similar ventures, to the benefit of Nigeria’s logistics landscape.
The port, which still awaits crucial approvals in spite of being declared an inland dry port by the Federal Government in August 2022, has remained largely untapped and operates at a minimal level.
Against this background, the DIDP Chairman, Abubakar Sahabo Bawuro, challenged NAGAFF to demonstrate its strength and commitment in order to unlock the port’s potential and drive trade seamlessly, according to a statement from the Media/Publicity Secretary, NAGAFF TGCLTF, Ruth Sunday.
Bawuro, who gave the charge during a three-day working visit by the NAGAFF TGCLTF, emphasised that the collective support of NAGAFF, freight forwarders, importers, exporters and consolidators would be instrumental to the port’s success.
He called for the official recognition of DIDP as both a Port of Origin and Final Destination, adding that establishing a command center in it is crucial for efficient operations.
On his part, the Chairman of NAGAFF TGCLTF, Mr. Patrick Ogbo, commended DIDP’s massive size and well-equipped facilities. He assured of NAGAFF’s cooperation, adding that the association will rally stakeholders, including importers, exporters and trade unions, to achieve the port’s full potential in no time.
