Buhari meets Bakare, Adeosun
ABUJA MINISTER of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun and the Senior Pastor of the Latter Rain Assembly, Tunde Bakare, are meeting behind closed doors with President Muhammadu Buhari at the presidential Villa, Abuja. Pastor Bakare and Mrs. Adeosun, arrived at the Villa heading towards the President’s office about 2.30pm on Friday after the weekky juma’at service at State House Mosque. Dressed in white flowing gown (agbada), Pastor Bakare who is a rare visitor to the Villa was clutching a black bag while walking side by side with the minister who engaged him in a discussion. Recall that the former running mate to Buhari as then presidential candidate under the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), had recently chastised the president over the worsening economic and security situation in the country. It was not clear why he was in the company of the Finance Minister who is facing controversy over alleged forgery of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) exemption certificate. Report had recently emerged that the minister submitted a forged NYSC exemption certificate for her ministerial screening when she was not eligible to have one having graduated at the age of 22. To be eligible to be issued the certificate, the applicant must have graduated at the age of 30 and above. Even though the authorities of the NYSC confirmed that she applied for an exemption certificate, they have however promised to investigate the one in her possession. It was not clear whether the presence of Pastor Bakare was to discuss the NYSC certificate scandal with the President The Minister appeared to have stepped on powerful toes over her insistence that the NNPC should make proper remittance to the Federal Government which led to the stalemate in the Federal Allocation Account Committee, FAAC and her alleged role in ensuring that the there was proper account with the recovered Abacha loot among others.
