The Federal Government has commended Nigerian physicians in the Americas and other parts of the world for their various specialties and innovative solutions championed in their respective fields, as well as invaluable roles in elevating healthcare standards in the country.
Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Tunji Alausa, told the Association of Nigerian Physicians in Americas (ANPA) that the dedication and expertise of Nigerian physicians in the diaspora, particularly those in ANPA, “play an invaluable role in our collective mission to elevate healthcare standards in our motherland.”
Alausa, representing the Nigerian President, spoke during the breakfast meeting of the ANPA annual convention, which held in California from June 19 to 23, 2024. He reminded members that they were “not just professionals bound by a common calling, but as Nigerians united by a shared vision of a healthier, stronger nation.
Ahead the 2025 edition billed for Nigeria, the minister assured of a seamless and memorable event, stating: “Nigeria is ready and open for business, and we recognise the enormous potential and contributions that you, our esteemed professionals in the diaspora, bring to the table.
“Hosting the ANPA Conference in 2025 is not just an event for us, it is a significant milestone. It symbolises our commitment to fostering global partnerships, embracing innovation, and creating an environment where Nigerian professionals can thrive, both at home and abroad.
“Your presence and participation will be pivotal in showcasing Nigeria’s capabilities and our relentless pursuit of excellence in healthcare. We understand that a robust healthcare system is fundamental to the nation’s development, and we are committed to implementing policies that ensure accessible, affordable and quality healthcare for every Nigerian.
“Central to this vision is the invaluable role of our professionals in the diaspora, especially ANPA. Your expertise, knowledge and experience are crucial in bridging the gaps and addressing the challenges that our healthcare system faces.
“We are keenly aware of the remarkable strides you have made in various specialties and the innovative solutions you have championed in your respective fields. Your achievements are a testament to the potential that exists within our nation, and we are eager to harness this potential for the greater good of our people.”
Meanwhile, against the background of the worsening conditions of living in Nigeria, Alausa stated: “We recognise the challenges that exist, but we are undeterred. Our focus is on creating a conducive environment where healthcare professionals can thrive, innovate, and make a lasting impact.
“This includes investments in infrastructure, technology and education to ensure that our healthcare facilities are equipped to meet the demands of a growing population.
