The Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) is at the verge of history as it unveils the maiden edition of its magazine, The Maritime Labour Voice, which will directly bear its voice on burning issues in the nation’s maritime industry.
Expected to be another of the union’s major contribution to the aggregation and convergence of ideas and discussions on issues in the country’s maritime sector, the magazine will be unveiled to the public on Wednesday, November 15th, at the RockView Hotel, Apapa, Lagos.
The Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of SIFAX Group, Dr. Taiwo Afolabi, as chief launcher, and the Chairman of Seaport Terminal Operators’ Association of Nigeria (STOAN), Princess (Dr.) Vicky Haastrup, as chairman of the event, will lead other industry bigwigs in unveiling the glossy publication.
In a statement announcing the event, the MWUN President-General, Comrade Adewale Adeyanju, “affirmed that the union is a critical stakeholder in the sector and should be heard louder – the very purpose the publication is designed to achieve.
The magazine, which is the union’s voice, will afford it space for input on critical issues in the sector, the Head of Media, MWUN, Comrade John Kennedy Ikemefuna, quoted Adeyanju, who is also the Deputy President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), as saying.
Also expected at the ceremony are top government functionaries, dignitaries from all walks of life and NLC affiliates, while the keynote will dwell on the effects and impact of Blue Economy on the union and the country at large.
