Dantsoho meets staff unions, pledges improved worker development

The Managing Director of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, has assured workers of his commitment to staff development as a means to boost productivity and revenue generation.

Dantsoho, who spoke when he received the leaders of the Senior Staff Association of Government Owned Companies (SSASCGOC) and the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria, (MWUN), led by the President-General, Comrade Adewale Adeyanju, stressed the need to position NPA to efficiently perform its role in trade facilitation. 

With the right communication and dialogue, “we will get there soon,” he stated, while assuring of his determination to further strengthen the agency’s organisational culture for the good of all.

He further called for continued collaboration and harmony from the two house unions.  

In his remarks, the Adeyanju congratulated Dantsoho on his appointment, while calling on him to look into the issues of staff welfare and remuneration. He expressed confidence in the Dantsoho’s ability to bring about the desired improvements in the agency and the maritime sector.  

Earlier, the President of SSASCGOC, Comrade Akinola Bodunde, congratulated Dantsoho on his appointment and pledged to support the management to achieve growth and improved welfare of the workforce.  

Similarly, the President of NPA Branch of MWUN, Comrade Ifeanyi Mazeli, expressed the union’s commitment towards promoting dialogue and enhancing growth in the Nigerian port sector.  

At the meeting were the Executive Director, Finance and Administration, Mrs. Vivian Richard-Edet, Executive Director, Marine and Operations, Olalekan Badmus, and other management staff of NPA.
